Who we are

What we collect

• Messages you send us. If you email or phone us, or use the contact form (which opens your own email app), we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to write, and keep it so we can reply.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site secure and working.
• Aggregate statistics. If analytics are enabled, we look at overall patterns such as which pages are read and on what kinds of device, not at identifiable individuals.

We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information such as health data or payment details.

The contact form

The form on our Contact page checks your entries in your browser and then opens your own email program with the message ready to send. Nothing you type is stored on or sent to our web server by the form itself. Once you send the email, it is handled like any other email we receive.

Cookies

renospots.com does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our fonts are delivered by Google Fonts, which may log basic technical information (such as IP address) when your browser requests them; see Google's own privacy policy for details. If we introduce analytics that use cookies, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

How we use information

We use personal information to answer correspondence, correct articles, keep the website secure and available, understand in general terms which articles are useful, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Service providers

We rely on ordinary suppliers such as web hosting, email and, where enabled, an analytics service. They process limited data on our behalf, only to provide their service to us, and are expected to keep it secure and confidential. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

How long we keep it

Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your message and for a reasonable period afterwards, normally no more than two years. Server logs are kept for a short operational period. Aggregate statistics may be kept in summary form.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the laws of Nevada, California and other US states, or the GDPR if you are in the EU or UK, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of any sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email inquiries@renospots.com; we may need to confirm your identity and will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Children

renospots.com is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we limit access to correspondence to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

Links to other sites

Our articles link to sources such as official reports, news sites and Wikimedia Commons. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
